What it’s about: Siblings Kieran and Tallulah McCade search for their missing mom across a distant planetary system where being a child is outlawed.
In a world that forbids children, two kids will break every rule to find their mom.
Nothing exciting happens on the remote moon of Nebo. It’s home to Kieran and Tallulah McCade, a brother and sister who dream of being anywhere else, even though Dad says it isn’t safe. Not to mention that their starship, Seraph, is currently just a glorified fishing boat.
The only thing they want more than adventure is their mom to return home. She disappeared a year ago on a mysterious trip to Kepler, a planet run by the powerful Corp, which has outlawed children. People aren’t born anymore; they’re made.
Except Kieran and Tallulah were born anyway.
When a ruthless Corp agent comes looking for Mom, the McCades realize she might still be alive—and in terrible danger. The family flees aboard Seraph with new hope that they can bring her home.
The kids must dodge the Corp, recruit a crew, and find their mom. But first, they’ll have to learn how to even fly a starship to begin with.
Themes: Family, friendship, forgiveness, hope, and how childhood is a gift worth fighting for.
Who it’s for: Readers ages 8-12 and the grownups who love reading with them. This book is for every family who values make-believe. It’s for those who love bedtime stories, cardboard spaceships, and backyard quests. Because it’s through imagination that we spark joy and discover powerful truths.
